Client stories from report season

Fundraising leads and country directors describe how specific pages, sessions, and chart sets changed their donor conversations.

“They rebuilt our annual report around three program stories and a single attendance chart. Our major-gift visits finally use the same numbers the board sees.”

“The board session felt slow at first—we argued over denominators for nearly an hour—but that argument stopped us from publishing a reach figure we could not defend.”

“Our grant officer asked fewer follow-up questions after we switched to their captioned chart set. The burn-rate page still needs a finance footnote we forgot to supply, yet the narrative charts themselves were clear.”

“I carried the donor brief into a lunch meeting and left the full report in the bag. The folded summary did the talking; we opened the thicker PDF only when the donor asked for methodology.”

Extended note: youth education annual report, Bangkok

Open annual report showing a classroom attendance chart beside a short narrative column

In late 2024 a Bangkok education NGO arrived with five years of attendance sheets and three conflicting “children reached” definitions. We spent the first week reconciling denominators with the monitoring officer, then built the annual report around three classroom stories and one attendance chart.

The fundraising team used the same three numbers in major-gift visits. The board packet kept a longer appendix for grant schedules. One mild friction remained: photo consent for two portraits arrived after the first print proof, so those pages were swapped for setting photographs before the final run.
